Insight into personality is a crucial part of ensuring person-career fit. We use Carl Jung’s personality typology theory to understand one’s preferences.
Jung’s Personality theory classifies personality into 16 types based on four dichotomies:
Extroversion (E) or Introversion (I): where individuals direct their energy – outwardly towards people and activities, or inwardly towards thoughts and ideas.
Sensing (S) or Intuition (N): how individuals prefer to take in information – through concrete facts or gut-feel instincts
Thinking (T) or Feeling (F): how individuals prefer to make decisions – based on logic or people’s circumstances
Judging (J) or Perceiving (P): how individuals attend to their obligations – planned and organised or flexible and spontaneous
Each type combines these preferences and gives insights into the work environment that may be most enjoyable.
We consider one’s personality type with their interest profile to propose well suited careers for long-term job satisfaction. We use John Holland’s RIASEC model to understand one’s interests.
Holland’s RIASEC model suggests that people and work environments can be categorised into six broad types:
Realistic (Doers): Practical and hands-on individuals
Investigative (Thinkers): Analytical and curious individuals
Artistic (Creators): Creative and expressive individuals
Social (Helpers): People-oriented individuals who enjoy helping and assisting others
Enterprising (Persuaders): Ambitious and leadership-focused individuals
Conventional (Organizers): Detail-oriented individuals who enjoy structure and order
One’s top 2 or 3 interest codes are combined to provide insight into careers that would be most satisfying.
When considering career paths, we also look at one’s general reasoning aptitude. This gives insight into one’s cognitive strengths.
Abstract Reasoning: how an individual solves unfamiliar problems and learns new information
Verbal Reasoning: how an individual understands information presented in written passages of texts to reach well considered conclusions
Numerical Reasoning: how an individual applies mathematical concepts and principles to solve numerical problems
We consider one’s aptitude when proposing future career paths. We also seek to understand whether their is alignment between one’s current school marks and aptitude. Should their be a disconnect, the implications will be unpacked in the report.
We take a holistic approach to ensure that students are equipped with the necessary information required to navigate their Career Exploration Journey
